About Us
Welcome to Children First, a ministry of Waycross First United Methodist Church!
We are here to support you and will strive to create an environment where your child will thrive in all developmental areas: social, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual. We welcome you, your ideas, and your presence here. We see Children First as a ministry for families and will act accordingly by providing opportunities for families to grow stronger. You can help make that happen by praying for this ministry. We thank you for trusting us with your child/children. We consider it a great honor to serve the Lord by caring for these little ones every day.
Our Purpose
-
To extend the ministry of Waycross FUMC and provide quality childcare for working parents.
-
To help children develop through education and -with the love of God- help them to reach their greatest potential.
-
To encourage children in our care to grow socially, physically, intellectually, and spiritually.
-
To provide developmentally-appropriate activities, outreach, and a program of ministry to the families of the children enrolled.
Our Mission Statement
The mission of Children First is to provide a loving, supportive, and educational environment for families who need childcare. Our program is designed to meet the needs of infant, toddler, preschool, and school-aged children in a safe and nurturing environment. It is also our mission for each child to know that God loves him/her.
Our Philosophy
-
Children are precious and must receive care from adults who are capable and caring, whose values enable them to be excellent role models.
-
The first impressions of life are the most important
-
We will work to provide a loving, nurturing, and life-building foundation that gives each child the life skills he/she will need in order to live up to the challenges of the modern world.
-
Each child is born with his/her own unique skills and gifts.
-
Children's play is extremely vital to healthy physical development, acceptable social skills and cognitive growth.
-
Children should experience numerous positive learning milestones, leading to an increased sense of accomplishment and independence.
-
Teachers, drawing upon their training and experience, must create an appropriate educational environment which carefully guides children from one developmental and cognitive level to another.
-
It is our responsibility as parents, caregivers, and educators to discover these and encourage them on a daily basis.
